The Coconut Café at the 4-star Hôtel La Pirogue is in the open air, near the beach and swimming pool, and Cindy and Vijay are there every day from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with their radiant smiles. Its lovely peaceful setting will really refresh you – not to mention its delicious cream-based and coconut water-based cocktails, served in coconuts. This Mauritian bar serves a wide variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, as well as many fresh fruit juices for fun with all the family. From 12:30 p.m., you can also taste some flavoursome pizzas as you soak up the azure waters of the Indian Ocean. To give you a small taste of this paradise at home today, Vijay now unveils his Piña Colada recipe.
A most refreshing cocktail
Here, the barman at the Coconut Café reveals his recipe for a drink which lovers of authentic cocktails will do anything for : the Piña Colada. This cocktail, based on coconut milk, pineapple juice and rum, is a truly flavoursome mix !
- A few ice cubes
- 8 cl rum
- 4 cl coconut cream
- 4 cl coconut milk
- 16 cl fresh pineapple cut into chunks
- sliced pineapple, for the garnish (optional)
- Maraschino cherry, for the garnish (optional)
Half-fill the shaker with ice cubes. Add the rum, coconut cream, coconut milk and pineapple chunks Mix everything to obtain a paste.
Serve and decorate with a slice of pineapple and a Maraschino cherry.
For a smooth touch, add a soup spoonful of fresh cream to the shaker. Now, just sit back and, in moderation, drink the cocktail, which will provide a wonderful reminder of your holiday at the 4-star Hôtel La Pirogue !
