A prestigious carnival
From 8 to 10 February, the troupe of dancers of La Pirogue had the opportunity to participate in the third edition of the International Carnival of Victoria in the Seychelles. Carnival of Victoria has featured a procession of colorful floats representing different countries’ national carnival participants and many other activities, all under the banner of the carnival. Countries that participated in the colorful carnival were, among others, Brazil, Reunion Island, Australia, Madagascar and Zimbabwe. For the participants, visitors and local communities, these three days were placed under the sign of exuberance in an explosion of color, shows and music. Mauritian dancers were able to demonstrate sega, the traditional dance of Mauritius.
Mauritius worthily represented
Among the 35 Mauritian participants selected by the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), are seven dancers of La Pirogue who took part in this great carnival : Bianca, Karen, Natasha, Benoit, Pascal, Laurent and Eddy worthy representatives of the Mauritian culture. La Pirogue dancers are carnivals regulars as they participated in Vanilla Islands Carnival which was held last year in Flic-en-Flac. The beautiful pictures brought back by the team give us an idea of the spectacular parade of carnival floats and the splendor of the Mauritian dancers. You will obviously have the pleasure of meeting them during your next stay in the 4 star Mauritian hotel La Pirogue !
